DELAYS ANTICIPATED FOR THURSDAY 28TH MARCH 2019 – COLLECTION CUSTOMERS
Dear Valued Collection Customer,
Unfortunately French customs staff have commenced industrial action again today and there are delays of 4.5hr at the Calais terminal for the tunnel. This is affecting all ports in France and is the cause of the delays we had experienced over the previous 2 weeks.
As of 12noon Wednesday 27th March 2019 this is the current situation/plan for Thursday:
- We are expecting 3 lorries from Holland, the first has already left the auction and is en-route to the tunnel, currently we are being advised there is a 4.5hr delay from arrival to boarding. We are hopeful of receiving the first lorry approx. midnight.
- The second and third lorries estimated arrival times are currently unknown – these lorries will contain a lot of pre ordered items/stock only available from the other auction sites around Holland and therefore arrive in to our Dutch premises much later. We will be monitoring the situation as well as our lorries progress throughout the afternoon and evening. It is potentially possible with delays of this length these lorries won’t arrive until gone 6am.
- Currently our night staff will be starting this evening as normal, depending on estimated arrival times we will provide an update later this evening and again tomorrow morning as to what the situation is.
IF THE DELAYS CONTINUE AT THERE CURRENT LEVEL (OR INCREASE) WE WILL AIM TO OPEN AS NORMAL AT 5am. THIS MAY MEAN SOME ITEMS WILL BE MISSING IF THEY HAVE YET TO ARRIVE. IF THIS IS THE CASE WE WILL KEEP THOSE ITEMS FOR FRIDAY COLLETION UNLESS YOU OTHERWISE ADVISE, IF YOU ARRIVE AFTER THE LORRIES HAVE ARRIVED WE WILL THEN ENSURE ALL OUTSTANDING ITEMS ARE COMPLETED.
Please check your emails, our Twitter account and web site for updates throughout the afternoon/evening.
If you should have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
